Elie Wiesel

Today my class finished the book Night by Elie Wiesel. It is a very interesting book, it takes place during the Holocaust. At the beginning of the book Elie and his family have a home, a job, and friends, and they think that the war will be over before the Germans get to them. But eventually the Germans did get to them. They were in a cattle train for many days, and when they got to there first concentration camp they saw piles of dead decaying bodies. They were spit up into groups men went to one side and women and children went to the other side. Many of the women and children were killed. But Elie ended up staying with his dad through all the concentration camps they went to. At every camp they went to everything was hostile. Everyone there were undernourished. No one in the camp felt remorse for anyone. Everyone was there to survive, people abandon there family and friends. This book is so real , the brutality towards one race of people is so extreme. The extermination of Jewish people. All the struggles and torture these people went through is shown so well in this book.
This story really showed me everything Jewish people went through, all the struggles, everything. I learned so much from this. Learning about the Holocaust is something very interesting to me. So reading this book was definitely something I enjoyed. Hearing Elies story was astonishing it really opened my eyes. I knew the Holocaust happened, but I didn't know half the stuff Elie talked about in this book. The Germans are definitely cruel and savage people . Jewish people and other races of people lived in terror many years of life, and most of them didn't get out. They went through so many extreme things, getting beaten, having to run miles and miles with out stopping, working all the time with out a brake, never having enough to eat... These people who made it through this are so amazing, I commend them for everything they went through.

Dramatic Irony

In the play Macbeth the character Macbeth is plotting to kill the king. The king doesn't know that Macbeth is trying to kill him. The audience knows that the king is going to be killed, but the king doesn't know. He thinks hes just going to Macbeths house to visit for a couple day. In Act I we have seen dramatic irony when the witches were planning on killing Macbeth, and when Macbeth is planning on killing the king and his sons only him and the audience knows.

Alice Walker "Remember"

I think this poem is about racism. A girl that is wounded has babies. Growing up in when people were very racist. While she was growing into a women black people were beginning to be excepted more. So when she was younger she didn't have anything to offer anyone. But now that she is a women racism has gone down. So she has more to offer.

Imagery: In this poem it says "I am the girl
with the dark skin
whose shoes are thin
I am the girl
with the rotted teeth
I am the girl
with the wounded eye
and the melted ear."
It shows that she is black and people are racist. She is still young with thin shoes, rotten teeth, wounded eye, and melted ear.
Then Its says
"I am the woman
with the blessed
dark skin
I am the woman
with teeth repaired
I am the woman
with the healing eye
the ear that hears
"
Now she is a women without rotten teeth, a healing eye, an ear that hears.
She went from young and weak to a women strong, and blessed.

Everday living

Living in Haiti for the average person isn't easy at all. Living on under a dollar a week. Bathing in dirty water. Houses that are poorly built. They cut down there forests to make charcoal so they could make food, but by doing that they made it so every time it rains it washes away the fertile top soil.
For children school is free, but there parents have to buy uniforms, textbooks, and supplies. So school for most people is to expensive. 65% of kids go to primary school, then secondary school drops down to 20%. Less then 35% will make it past secondary school.

Surving

As most people know there was a terrible earthquake in Haiti just last week. Leaving many people homeless, injured, and hungry. 70,000 people have died, they think more have died, but there not sure because many many people are still trapped in rubble. This was Haiti's strongest earthquake ever. It rattled the Caribbean Nation. Leaving hardly any buildings standing. Panic is all through the streets.
Many nations hurried to help Haiti, but it's not enough. This earthquake has damaged Haiti.
I personally think crazy. people are dying from little things that could be easily fix. I know everyone is doing everything they can but there has to be more we can do. Could you imagine living your everyday life one minute everything is fine then an earthquake. Seeing dead people all over the streets, no standing buildings. Not knowing if your friends or family is dead or not. Starving, having no home. Not knowing when you are going to eat again.

Learing, Improving, Success.

I think doing blog post is a better way for us to learn how to write because were not just writing to our English teacher, we are writing to an audience. Making people understand what you are writing and what you are writing about is definitely a challenge, but we are doing it a lot more often so I'm improving a lot more then I would be from writing papers.
